Lakshadweep — the name itself means ‘a hundred thousand islands’. Some big, some small, same near, while some far. Some inhabited and some deserted. Located off the coast of Kerala, Lakshadweep islands are bestowed with miles of heavenly sun-kissed beaches devoid of crowds and filled with magnificent lagoon, and turquoise blue water brimming with colourful aquatic life. 1. The Budget

Lakshadweep is not a budget-friendly holiday destination. Although the facilities offered here are pretty good, however, every good thing in life comes at a price. Similarly, the natural beauty and the peaceful surroundings of the region are just something money can’t buy.

2. The Restrictions

Due permission from the authorities is required without which no tourists, Indian or others are allowed to set a foot on the Islands. Foreigners are given restricted entry that is limited only to a few islands of the region.

Most of the food cooked in Lakshadweep takes inspiration from south Indian cuisine. Foods like Appam, Dosa, Idli are generally preferred for breakfast. Cabbage, Peera, Olan, Parippu curry, PlaintainIdimas are preferred food options for lunch.

Lakshadweep is a group of small islands located about two to four hundred kilometres away from the south-western coast of India. The Island is accessible by ships and flights operated from Kochi. Kochi acts as the gateway to Lakshadweep.

The islands are not very easily accessible, but the picturesque archipelago makes it a compelling destination.

It is worth noting that there are not many shopping markets or large emporiums or plush malls for shopping in Lakshadweep. You can find an odd shop once in a while anywhere at the island or else you may also come across a few local inhabitants with roadside stalls.
